Batman Begins (2005): “Rated PG-13 for intense action violence, disturbing images, and some thematic elements.” The phrase “disturbing images” is interesting in this context, since “disturbing” was probably used in more reviews of The Dark Knight than any PG-13 film in recent memory. In this film, it may refer to Batman’s origin story, which includes his being a child when he witnesses his parents being shot and killed. “Thematic elements” could mean anything, and could easily be applied to the two follow-up movies in this series—and maybe every movie that receives a rating. Also, this film has about the same level of profanity, but again, it’s not mentioned in the description.
